Running in Spiti’s cold, high-altitude environment requires smart layering and the right gear. Dressing correctly will help you stay warm, dry, and comfortable while maintaining performance throughout the race.
1. HIGH-ALTITUDE EXTREME EVENT WARNING
  • Surya Spiti Marathon 2026 is conducted at altitudes of 3,800–4,500+ metres in remote Himalayan terrain. Participation involves extreme risks, including but not limited to altitude sickness, severe weather, difficult terrain, and medical emergencies. All participants must be fully aware of these risks before registering.
2. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

A.  Medical Fitness

  • Participants must carry a Medical Certificate issued by a registered doctor. The certificate must not be older than 30 days from the date of the Bib Expo.
  • Participants must disclose all pre-existing medical conditions, including but not limited to heart conditions, lung conditions, diabetes, hypertension, and previous episodes of altitude sickness.
  • All participants must undergo mandatory pre-race medical screening, including SpO2 and vital signs check.
  • Important: If you are denied participation on medical grounds, no refund will be issued.

B.  Insurance

  • Participants must purchase adventure sports insurance that covers high-altitude running, emergency evacuation, and hospitalisation prior to the event.
  • All medical costs are the sole responsibility of the participant. The organisers will not cover any medical expenses.
  • Participation without valid insurance is strongly discouraged and entirely at the participant's own risk.

C.  Acclimatisation

  • Participants are strongly advised to arrive in Spiti Valley at least one week before race day to allow adequate acclimatisation to the altitude.
  • Failure to acclimatise adequately significantly increases the risk of altitude sickness and may result in disqualification on medical grounds.

D.  Mandatory Pre-Race Briefing

  • Attendance at the pre-race briefing is compulsory for all participants.
  • Participants who miss the briefing may be denied participation on race day.
3. NON-REFUNDABLE & NON-TRANSFERABLE REGISTRATION

A. Before Race Day

  • Participant does not show up on race day.
  • Participant fails to collect their race bib.
  • Participant is unable to travel due to personal reasons, including injury, illness, work, or family emergencies.
  • Participant registered for the wrong race category and did not request a change by 30th June 2026.

B. On Race Day

  • Participant is found medically unfit during pre-race screening or bib collection.
  • Participant is medically withdrawn from the race by race officials or medical staff.
  • Participant boards a support vehicle or ambulance during the race.
  • Participant receives or uses supplemental oxygen during the race.
  • Participant is accompanied by an unauthorised pacer or support person.
  • Participant voluntarily withdraws (DNF — Did Not Finish).
  • Participant is disqualified for rule violations, including bib exchange, course shortcutting, or breaches of the Code of Conduct.
  • Participant fails to finish within the official cut-off timings.
4. CANCELLATION & DEFERRAL POLICY
  • Cancellation deadline: 30th June 2026.
  • Cancellations made on or before 30th June 2026 are eligible for a 70% refund. A non-refundable processing fee of 30% is retained.
  • Cancellations made after 30th June 2026: No refund. No exceptions.
  • Registrations cannot be deferred to a future edition of the event under any circumstances.
5. RACE DAY RULES — INSTANT DISQUALIFICATION

Participants will be disqualified without refund for any of the following:

  • Exchanging or transferring a race bib with any other person.
  • Short-cutting the race course or skipping checkpoints.
  • Littering or causing damage to the environment.
  • Receiving unauthorised pacing or outside support.
  • Boarding a vehicle or using supplemental oxygen during the race.
  • Engaging in abusive, unsafe, or unethical behaviour towards any person.
  • Violating any race rule or the Code of Conduct.
6. ORGANISER'S RIGHTS

The organisers reserve the right, at their sole discretion and without liability or obligation to refund, to:

  • Modify race routes, timings, categories, or rules at any time.
  • Cancel or postpone the event due to adverse weather conditions, safety concerns, government orders, or force majeure events.
  • Deny participation to any person deemed medically unfit or a safety risk.
  • Disqualify any participant found to be in violation of race rules.
  • Use a participant's name, photograph, video footage, and race data for promotional, media, and broadcasting purposes.
7. LIABILITY WAIVER & INDEMNIFICATION

By completing registration and clicking 'I Agree', participants confirm and acknowledge the following:

  • They voluntarily participate in Surya Spiti Marathon 2026 at their own risk.
  • They release and hold harmless the organisers, sponsors, Fitizen India, the Indian Army, volunteers, medical teams, and all associated parties from any liability for injury, illness, death, property loss, or any other damages arising from participation.
  • They indemnify the organisers against any claims or legal actions arising from their participation.
  • They understand this constitutes a legally binding waiver under Indian law.
  • All disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India.
8. ENVIRONMENT & CODE OF CONDUCT
  • Leave No Trace: Participants must carry all waste to designated bins. Littering is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
  • Respect Local Culture: Dress modestly in villages, seek permission before photographing local residents, and show respect at all religious sites.
  • Follow all instructions from race officials, medical staff, and course marshals at all times.
9. DATA & MEDIA CONSENT

By registering, participants grant the organisers irrevocable permission to:

  • Use their name, photograph, video footage, and race performance data for promotional, media, and broadcasting purposes.
  • Share medical information with emergency responders if required during the event.
  • Publish race results on the event website and associated platforms.
10. MANDATORY DECLARATION

By checking the agreement box and proceeding to payment, participants confirm that:

  • They have carefully read and fully understood this disclaimer and the complete Terms & Conditions and Refund & Cancellation Policy available at www.suryaspitimarathon.com
  • They voluntarily agree to participate in Surya Spiti Marathon 2026 with full knowledge of the extreme risks involved.
  • They accept all terms and conditions stated herein and acknowledge that this constitutes a legally binding agreement.
