for snow tails

The Spiti Marathon unfolds at elevations between 11,000 and 15,000 feet, where thinner air and rugged terrain demand proper preparation. Allowing your body to adapt is key to both performance and safety.

Preparing your body is the first step to a successful run. With the right acclimatization, you’ll be ready to take on Spiti with confidence and strength.
Acclimatization — Important
  • Spiti Valley is 3,800+ metres above sea level — acclimatization is essential
  • Arrive at least 3–4 days before your race day
  • Avoid strenuous activity on your first day at altitude
  • Stay well-hydrated and follow a carb-rich diet during acclimatization
  • Watch for symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS): headache, nausea, dizziness
